Walk where it all began
The route that gave the marathon its name, reimagined as a walking challenge.
In 490 BC, the Athenian messenger Pheidippides ran from the battlefield at Marathon to Athens to announce victory over the Persians. The Original Marathon follows this 42.3 km route — from the Marathon Tomb where the fallen warriors are buried, through the coastal town of Nea Makri, and into Athens, finishing at the marble Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.
With Zelus, you walk this ancient route on a live map. Your daily steps carry you along the same road from Marathon to Athens, unlocking seven milestones at landmarks like the Halfway Stone, the climb at Stavros, and the stadium finish line. Nenikekamen — we have won.
